First part: Walked to the river. Climbed a tree. Sitting on a tree for one hour. Watched the waves and the people and the life on the tree.
Second part: Late night (yes, my working time). Stopping with the car spontaneously. Walking. Starting to go into a direction. Returning in a circle, more or less of a walk which would take 15min without the intention of doing nothing…

You can do nothing at any time (also at night when others are partying) and with almost no space at all (a tree). Only having one hour makes you more aware of time and you feel a little less free to roam.

I am like an ant walking down the tree finding the stem, but on the way find joyfully nothing. I am a roundabout – and life, the universe circles around me, unaware of my presence. I like watching people cleaning up stuff or being on the verge to get into something.

Very confident and soothed. It provides an adventure in everyday life which is invaluable. It is hard to plan 2h ins if you have a lot of other things to do. My working hours declined in the last 3 days, but I am at least aware of it, maybe more with than without the challenge of nothing to put into my day, too. The questionaire is about 20-30min to fill out.

[collapse title=”Before/While/Effect”]
BEFORE: Did already know that I want to sit in a tree for an hour. To change that movement of the last two days. Excited. In anticipation of no „work“ but inspiration and calmness.

WHILE: Sat on a tree and climbed it – with my umbrella. Again walked with the umbrella, but it was less important than before. Second part without umbrella. Did not miss it. People were semi-aware of me observing them. The side with the water was more soothing, a whole stretch of river. I widened my gaze to both sides, 180 degree and just took the scenery in, the ripples in the water and when a boat passed by. The people lying in the grass below me looked like resting lions. I was not resting. Sitting in a tree is uncomfortable, but it grounds you very much. The vibration of the earth can be felt 😉

AFTER: I did observe like being an alien, to be detached and not wanting something particular is very freeing. Not going out not going from A to B, just going. Taking it easy. Doing nothing at any time (work-time) is giving an anchor of a playful angle to life. Like with a child´s play or with friends. You just use what is around you for no purpose. And it is still „entertaining“.

Sitting in the japanese garden near the fountain and the pond, watching turtles looking out of the water and Kois slowly floating by.. my mind also slows down instantly…

[collapse title=”Did you learn something new about doing nothing?”]
Tried it today in shorter chunks, by 5-10 min. Paradoxically DN feels today like hard work.. Looks like synchronicties appear regularily during the process – I stay attentive.

[collapse title=”Did you learn anything new about yourself?”]
I try to escape from the commitment and DN, but not into work, but into other silly activities – makes me angry… It feels like rebellion from the unconsciousness… Maybe this is my hidden shadow, which opposes to all obligations… grr.

[collapse title=”How did you feel about this experiment today?”]
OMG – How can I get through this 40 days… Want to quit… It`s so paradox….
